MF Mitra reads the statements you already receive and tells you what they actually say. Import your Consolidated Account Statement and the app works out what your portfolio has really returned, what you would owe in tax if you sold today, and which of your holdings are still locked in — figures your statement contains but does not calculate for you.
What it does
- Real returns, per scheme and overall XIRR computed from your own cashflows, not an average of NAVs. Where a scheme has too little history to compute one honestly, the app says so instead of showing a number.
- Capital gains, already worked out Realised and unrealised, short and long term, with grandfathering applied for units held before 31 January 2018.
- Lock-in you can see ELSS lock-in tracked per purchase lot, so you know which units are free and which are not — not one date for the whole scheme.
- Holding alerts A notification when a scheme's NAV crosses a level that matters to your position.
- Look-through The actual companies and sectors underneath your funds, and where two funds hold the same thing.
Your portfolio stays on your phone
Holdings, transactions and folio numbers are stored in an encrypted database on your device, and are excluded from Android's cloud backup. They are not uploaded to us and we cannot see them. Our servers hold only what an account needs in order to exist — your email address, your name, and your plan.
Getting your statement in
A Consolidated Account Statement arrives from CAMS or KFintech as a password-protected PDF, emailed to your registered address. MF Mitra can take it two ways: you share the file into the app from your mail app, or — if you choose to connect Gmail — the app finds that one email and downloads the attachment for you. The Gmail connection is optional, read-only, limited to the registrar's own statement mail, and can be disconnected from inside the app at any time. Nothing from your mailbox is ever sent to our servers.
Optional Google features
- Google Sheet sync — writes your portfolio into a Sheet you own, using a permission that reaches only files the app itself created.
- Gmail statement pickup — as described above. Read-only, and off unless you turn it on.
What MF Mitra is not
It is an analytics tool, not an adviser. It does not give investment advice or recommendations, it is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst, and it cannot buy or sell anything. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks; read all scheme-related documents carefully.
Beta
MF Mitra is in public beta. Everything is free while the beta runs — there is nothing to pay for and no plan to choose. If you find something wrong, or a number you cannot reconcile against your own statement, please tell us. That is what the beta is for.
